IGN has a little bit on the upcoming Dark Avengers series, including the cover for the first issue. This is clearly the next big hyped thing from Marvel following the Secret Invasion crossover. IGN got Tom Brevoorts comment on it: "Who are the Dark Avengers? That's the question that all of Ma...

DC COMICS FLASH #246 MARVEL COMICS AGE OF SENTRY #3 AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #578 AVENGERS INVADERS #6 FANTASTIC FOUR #561 IRON MAN DIRECTOR OF SHIELD #35 A large shipment of comic books are headed to the Bunker today. We are getting a total of 16 titles. This week is heavier with Marvel comics. I am much more intrigued by the selection of comic books headed our way from the House of Ideas than I am by what DC is offering this week. However, Fantastic Four #561 is the Marvel comic book that I am most looking forward to reading. Millar is doing an excellent job with this title. I fully expect Millar to throw several more twists and turns at the reader with this issue.

The Secret Invasion tie-in issues continue to be strong reads. I get much more excited for the newest issue of New Avengers and Mighty Avengers than I do the newest issue of Secret Invasion itself. Mighty Avengers #15 deals with one of Marvel’s whipping boys, Hank Pym. I did not like that Bendis continued to pile on more misery on Pym’s character by revealing him to be a Skrull. Still, I am sure that Mighty Avengers #15 should be an entertaining read. Let’s go ahead and do this review. We cut to two months ago with Ultron attacking the Mighty Avengers. We see Pym helping SHIELD and the Mighty Avengers figure up a way to defeat Ultron. We slide to Pym meeting with the other Skrull spies. Pym says that the information they had on Tony Stark is outdated. Pym says...

We zip forward to a couple of months ago with the Avengers meeting at the Avengers Tower. Jarvis asks Iron Man if it would be possible for him to review the Avengers files on the Sentry. Jarvis says that in light of the unfortunate tragedy with Scarlet Witch that he has been wondering if there was something he could have been more aware of and to have server her and all of them more properly. We then cut to today with the Mighty Avengers and the Secret Avengers brawling with the Skrull 1970’s heroes. The Sentry locks horns with the Vision. The Vision then shape shifts into the Void and tells the Sentry that he did all of this. That the Sentry brought the Void back as revenge on everyone for forgetting about him when he needed them the most. That everything is...

The Revolution really enjoyed the last issue of Mighty Avengers. Bendis did a fantastic job writing Nick Fury’s character and filling the reader in on the back-story about what Nick has been doing in connection with the Skrull invasion. Mighty Avengers #13 continues to follow Nick Fury as...

Mighty Avengers continues to be a much better read than New Avengers. And that trend should continue with Mighty Avengers #12. We get treated to a Nick Fury spotlight issue with Mighty Avengers #12. We should learn what role Nick Fury is playing in the battle against the Skrulls. Let’s go ahead and hit this review. Synopsis: We begin with a flashback to when Latveria launched a counter-attack in response to the covert mission in Latveria by a Nick Fury led team that included Wolverine, Spider-Man, Daredevil, Black Widow and Luke Cage. We see an LMD of Nick Fury telling the heroes that he is done with politics. That they will never see or hear from him again. That one day they will look around and see the world like he has to and that they will know that Nic...

We cut to Iron Man waking up in New York City in the past. There is no internet for Iron Man to connect to and no satellites for him to hook into. Doom then appears in front of Iron Man and curses Tony for trapping them in time and that Tony will pay for it with his dying breath. End of story. And it is fantastic for the Avengers to finally tangle with a legit villain. The Hood over on New Avengers simply isn’t Avengers material. Hood is a fine villain for tiles like Heroes for Hire, Daredevil, Iron Fist or Spider-Man. But, not for the premier super team in the Avengers. Nope, the Avengers deserve quality A-list villains like Doctor Doom.

Spider-Woman mentions how these Skrulls are more advanced and not even Wolverine or Daredevil could tell by scent that Electra was a Skrull. Of course, Spider-Woman re-iterates the fact that the New Avengers all think that Tony is a Skrull. Spider-Woman says that Tony was the only person that she thought could handle the situation and that the New Avengers will know if Tony is a Skrull or not. That if Tony is a Skrull then he will kill Spider-Woman right now to cover up this discovery. Tony assures Spider-Woman that he is no Skrull, but that they have to assume that there are Skrulls on the roster of the Mighty Avengers. (Oh, I can only hope that we get another rousing rendition of the “You’re a Skrull! No, you’re a Skrull!” game.)

Luke then smiles and says that he told everyone that he thought there was someone out there pulling there strings. Spider-Woman then says that they should turn the Skrull over to Tony Stark. That if Stark is the biggest cop in the world. And that Stark will know what to do with the Skrull. And if Stark is a Skrull then the Secret Avengers will know that based on what Stark does with the information. If Stark tries to kill them then they know Stark is a Skrull. I continue to find Yu’s artwork downright ugly. Yu does have talent; however he is simply drawing the wrong title. Yu should be drawing a comic book like Creepshow or Tales from the Crypt. Mighty Avengers is a far better looking comic book than New Avengers.
