Weekly Awards For The Comic Books From June 25, 2008 external link

The Followers of The Revolution voted for Final Crisis #2 to receive The Che this week. This vote was not even remotely close as Final Crisis #2 absolutely crushed the competition. The results for best read of the week were as follows:

Final Crisis #2: 39% (21 votes)
New Avengers #42: 15% (8 votes)
Captain America #39: 9% (5 votes)
Immortal Iron Fist #16: 7% (4 votes)
Green Lantern #32 5% (3 votes)
X-Men: Legacy #213: 5% (3 votes)
Mighty Avengers #15: 3% (2 votes)
Daredevil #108: 3% (2 votes)
Fantastic Four #558: 1% (1 vote)
Hulk #4: 1% (1 vote)
Trinity #4: 1% (1 vote)
Ultimate Spider-Man #123: 1% (1 vote)
Uncanny X-Men #499: 1% (1 vote)

The Followers of The Revolution voted for Ultimates 3 #4 to win the Sequential Methadone Award of the week. This vote was a close one as Ultimates 3 #4 had to fend off Wolverine: Origins #26. The results for the worst read of the week are as follows:

Ultimates 3 #4: 31% (10 votes)
Wolverine: Origins #26: 21% (7 votes)
Trinity #4: 12% (4 votes)
New Avengers #42: 6% (2 votes)
Hulk #4: 6% (2 votes)
Final Crisis #2: 6% (2 votes)
Marvel 1985 #2: 6% (2 votes)
Fantastic Four #558: 3% (1 vote)
Man With No Name #2: 3% (1 vote)
Teen Titans #60: 3% (1 vote)

All right, let’s go ahead and dish out The Revolution’s weekly awards.
The nominees for the Che for the best read of the week:

Captain America #39
Final Crisis #2

The Winner: Final Crisis #2

I agreed with the Followers of The Revolution with the winner of the Che for this week. To be sure, Captain America #39 was another wonderful read. And Brubaker deserves all the praise he gets for his consistent work on that title. However, Final Crisis #2 was simply a brilliant read that was not going to be denied the Che this week no matter how many titles Marvel threw against it.

And now the nominees for the Sequential Methadone Award for the worst read of the week:

Ultimates 3 #4
Wolverine: Origins #26

The Winner: Wolverine: Origins #26

I broke with the Followers of The Revolution as I had to go with Wolverine: Origins #26 as the winner of the Sequential Methadone Award of the week. There is no doubt that Ultimates 3 #4 would be a worthy recipient of this award. And on any other week, Ultimates 3 #4 would have probably won the Sequential Methadone Award. Ultimates 3 #4 was an awful read.

More from Rokk's Comic Book Revolution:

However, the fact remains that Wolverine: Origins has consistently been one of the worst reads on the market for the past two years. Way has managed to make this title a cringe inducing mess of a title. The story is practically unreadable. And what pushed Wolverine: Origins #26 over the top for this week was the putrid combination of Way’s writing, some horrendous looking artwork and the god awful Romulus character from Loeb’s pathetic “Wolverine is a dog-boy” story arc. Gross.

So congrats to Final Crisis #2 for winning the Che for the week and congrats to Wolverine: Origins #26 for winning the Sequential Methadone Award for the week.
